DESCRIPTION OF STONES

AGATE

Agate is a translucent variety of microcrystalline quartz. It is used as a semi-precious stone when it is of desirable quality and color. Agate generally forms by the deposition of silica from groundwater in the cavities of igneous rocks. Called the earth rainbow, the concentric bands of Agate form in nearly every color the earth can produce, including a colorless form.

DRUZY

Druzy is the glittering effect of tiny crystals over top a colorful mineral. It is beautiful when used in making jewelry. One of the perks to druzy stones is that they are not as expensive as big faceted gemstones and they have sparkle and great color and it can be cut into various shapes with ease. Common colors are white, yellow, brown, red, and orange. Druzy style beads are great for centerpieces in pendants. While they look sparkly and delicate, druzy quartz is a fairly durable gem.

PYRITE

The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulfide. This mineral's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. The color has also led to the nicknames brass, brazzle, and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal.

FRESH WATER BAROQUE PEARLS

Baroque pearls are pearls with an irregular non-spherical shape. Shapes can range from minor aberrations to distinctly ovoid, curved, pinch, or lumpy shapes. Most cultured freshwater pearls are baroquebecause freshwater pearls are mantle-tissue nucleated instead of bead nucleated.

Pearls are an organic gem, called organic because they are created by living creatures.

HEMATITE

Hematite is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth's surface and in the shallow crust. Hematite has an extremely variable appearance. Its luster can range from earthy to submetallic to metallic. Its color ranges include red to brown and black to gray to silver.
